Our Curriculum

The academic program at English Russian Vishenka Nursery places an emphasis on every aspect of child's growth and development, while meeting state requirements. We offer high quality, child-centered Russian-speaking day care and preschool program combining both Russian and English approaches to early years education.

 

At Vishenka bilingual nursery, learning is led by UK Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory framework and methods of Russian early childhood education innovators such as Kolesnikova, Vlasova, Dronov, Chubarova, Kharlamova, Zhukova etc. We use play to embed a varied curriculum which covers the main areas of learning and development. 

Personal, Social & Emotional Development 

This will include experiences that will help children to develop a positive sense of themselves and of others, respect for others, social skills and a positive disposition to learn.

This stage focuses on extending and developing an understanding of vocabulary, speaking and listening, being read to, supporting and extending their skills in beginning to read and write. At Vishenka, we focus on both Russian and English when it comes to the children’s language development.

Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy

The children develop an interest in numbers and counting, making comparisons, sorting and matching objects and beginning to recognise numbers and shapes. They start showing an awareness of their existence within the environment and are encouraged to recognise numbers and shapes in new places.

Theme days/weeks 

Throughout the year, themed days/weeks are woven into the curriculum to extend the breadth and balance of opportunities we offer our children. These include, World Book Day, Sport & Health Week, International day and others.  

The nursery also celebrates key events of the year, such as Harvest, New Year's Day, Mother's Day, Remembrance and many others.
